At the session of the Planning Commission of the City of Kikinda, the preliminary draft of the Amendments to the General Regulation Plan of the southeastern part of the settlement of Kikinda for block 59/1 was discussed, in the preparation of which a team of project experts participated in the previous period. The development of the plan began after defining the city's need to provide conditions and build about 120 housing units in family and multi-family housing, as well as one or two buildings for single-member families and elderly households. At the session of the Commission, the planned purposes, the manner of implementation as well as the scope of the plan were discussed in order to prepare the final draft of the plan in the next period, which will, after expert control, be sent for public inspection.
According to the latest census, the Roma make up 3.34% of the total population, mostly indigenous, and the largest number of Roma live in the city itself and in the settlements of Basaid, Mokrin and Rusko Selo.
With the intention of finding adequate space for socially vulnerable groups, the city came to a decision that it is necessary to prepare amendments to the General Regulation Plan of one part of its territory. The area covered by the Amendments to the Plan envisages the relocation of families living today in in substandard Roma settlements Mali Bedem and settlements in Basaid, families from existing city social apartments and other vulnerable categories of the population from the territory of Kikinda. At the location covered by the Plan, the construction of a facility with a health station, a branch of the center for social protection and premises for a social / cultural center is also planned.
The goal of adopting the Amendments to the Plan is to create a planning basis for changing the purpose of the work zone into a social housing zone and new housing complexes, as well as defining rules for landscaping, infrastructure equipment, construction and use of space. In this way, basis is created for the design and construction of facilities for relocation of Roma families and other vulnerable groups.
In preparing the
plan, the project team developed a concept for social housing facilities for
about 100 housing units in family and multi-family housing facilities, as well
as a location for a community center.
